I know what your thinking what freaky fig is Nick posting now? Well... It's very large and Pear Shaped. I swear I am not doing anything, my figs just grow this way... This one was sold to me as an " Unknown Italian " by a forum member. No other information. It is late ripening, with the crop just starting to ripen now. The figs are " clustered " in a group of 4 to five figs. They are larger than my Atreanos ( which were pretty large ) The necks are very thick and the body of the fig very bulbish looking. The leaves are different from my Lattula and Lattarolla. Also different from Italian honey leaves, so I wrote them off. The main figs pictured should be ready in the next couple of days and I will post pics of the interior. The fruit shown,is Breba on a young plant coming late.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but this late in season on this year's growth, still possible to be a Breba? I thought current year's growth is a main. The long neck has the look of a breba but this time of year is weird. __________________ Dominick Zone 6a-MA

Good point Little Grasshopper. The tree is in it's first year with no old growth. All five figs on the tree are starting to ripen, at the same time. Any idea of the cultivate it might be? __________________ Nick. Brooklyn Zone 7B

I picked two ripe figs today. They may have been able to stay on the tree a another day, but with the rain we have been having I did not want to risk it. And let me say they were good. Very, very tasty, strawberry Jam flavored. One of the best green figs I have tried. Even with the rain, the eyes stayed closed and the taste was not diluted. Taste was very similar to my Battaglia. Maybe it's a Verte? On the Varieties page it states Verte is pyriform but also states Brebas are rare. Inline image Inline image Inline image . Inline image . Thanks, George. You have been around the fig block so to speak. Any thoughts on this tree? The shape of the figs are similar to Strawberry Verte. The leaves not so much. And Herman wrote the figs might be Brebas Which Jon states are rare on a Verte. __________________ Nick. Brooklyn Zone 7B
