Yes here i nip branches to stop fig devlopment after a certain date for if they keep growing the figs will keep showing up as well and harm plant going into off season. I can see how yours would do this even with more growth as does not look like they were pruned and your in much warmer zone.

Hi Martin, New to figs...I am having similar growth with my new figlets. Just want to ask, which brances you nip to stop fig growth? Or should i just nip new figs? Thanks, Imran

Imran in short i trim after 5th or 6th leaf in our zone location and also any new shoots that may form around the area of cut . Other wise branch keeps extending and growing the figs which will not ripen before seasonal cold as they can take anywhere from 80 to 100 days . It also least here in our zone if left to keep growing the branches and figs can hurt the plant going into dormancy with dieback or in the worse case death.

Your right Martin. I haven't trimmed any of them yet. That was actually the reason I joined the forum to begin with. And its the only thing I haven't done on my tree's yet. So I should go ahead and pinch the tips that are still producing figs? And what would you do with that tall Alma?
