I see growth do you?

Doug

I see it i see it good job Doug

I heard led lights are really good. Way easier to deal with then my 1000 watt MH. ABOUT 40 POUNDS

And not expensive at less than $30 to build.

:)

Doug

How did you build it. Lights etc

Plants are waking up and look happy.

Yes they are.
by spring they will be bushes.

I think you're gonna need more light.  :)  The color is very light green and as it grows leaves will shade other leaves and the top and bottom leaves won't fit in the same beam.  Eventually the width of the plant will outgrow a single beam, too.  Don't give it much nitrogen :)

Richie, your HID setup weighs 40 lbs?

Rotating plants is all that is needed.
I have done it 4 years in a row.
Does not 73 trees added to my orchard over the last 4 years
speak for themselves?
No worry, I have more LED lights if I need them.
100 watts of led will easily cover a 4x5 area for plant.
It has been plenty for what I need.

No worry I will keep you updated with pictures.
Only way to get those that know all,, to learn.
Remember this is only for a few months during winter.
I do not ripen figs in doors.
rcantor, was it not you who bought a hps set up only to be told it would not work well
by the group, then later you stated it only made your figs long and leggy?
I was there, telling you then you should have went with MH bulb.
But you tried it and you did not sound impressed with your results
that you shared with the forum.
I was building LED's way back then.

Just thinking when I ran a 200 watt led light it sun burnt the leaves within days.
I either had to raise the light even more(which would blind my wife n I sitting in the living room)
so I decided to cut back to 100 watts and keep the light in a position low enough to
not be a problem. This I learned by experience, not books or computer reading.

Just a few days later.....(I love flicker compared to photobucket I had for years)

It really is amazing to watch the rapid growth, my dragon fruit which I cut way back is
growing new shoots. My peach grown from seed has new leaf growth after being dormant.

Winter growing is what I enjoy the most.
Soon in December I will start cuttings with my 3 cup method.
The progress of that is pure amazing.

To be continued.......     :)

same figs, same led lights

Doug

holy smokes! this is awesome!

I just converted my wine chiller into a mini grow place. I bought one of the led lights with mixed colors. Have fun ;)

I always wanted to convert a chiffarobe or bureau to a growth chamber.
Never got around to it.
By the way the figs are growing, they will be 4-5 foot tall by march.
My electric bill was $58 this last month, with a all electric 4 bedroom house.
Not bad. At least plugging in the 350 total watts of LED made no noticeable
difference in my electric bill.
Guaranteed, you cant say that running High pressure sodium, or MH
lights.

I'm stuck on LED lights.
They do everything and more than I would expect.
