Life outside the humidity bin

Hi folks,I'm looking for some advice.

I have rooted cuttings over the winter and spring and struggled to keep them alive after coming out of the humidity box.I have lost a lot due to drying out/wilting and never recovering.

Whenever I read about this stage of the process people have always said to reduce humidity 'gradually' which I think I do but I must be doing something wrong.'gradually' is very non-specific.

How do you guys go about adjusting your humidity grown cuttings to ambient humidity?

You have to acclimate them. If you can't keep them in a humidity box while potted, use a gallon plastic zip lock bag. Take it off for one hour for 3 days or longer, up to 7 days if you're having problems. Then 2 hours off, 3, and four hours off. At that point you can remove.

Hi Haroon,

Hope you read French (although you have here a good deal of good pictures)
see these pages with guidance for rooting hardened scions as well as green ..

or you may wrap the traditional scion (hardened)  under one layer of parafilm before putting it to root.. shaded, in house for your climate  .. in a kitchen window away from direct sun as done on these pictures with a valuable bud grafted on a caprifig scion..
From its kitchen position and once it grew to 4 or 5 stronger leaves it moved to outside air under the shade of a tree.
Hope this helps

Lamps,I think I will try the non-humidity method you show next time as it has proven more work than I can handle with works and kids and eating and sleeping there's little time for figs.

Drew, thank for your the staged method,I think that's what I am going to try on my current batch,I'll just remove the lid of the box for gradually longer,I wasn't sure about the intervals and how long is need to give them until they were adjusted, sounds like I need to take a week off work to do it though lol.

I better get on and by some parafilm for next rooting season
