Members,
I recently made a day trip to Raleigh and found this tree growing unprotected in public street. The trunk was at least 6 inches in diameter but is at a partially sheltered location. It looks like green Ischia but doubt it due to the fact it is in ground in protected. Can you check and let me what fig this could be?

Got to taste one and tasted similar to but milder than Dalmatie. Has a slightly acidic taste and hint of berry. Wasn't sweet like honey fig.

The tree was loaded with figs, so didn't take any cuttings. May be in fall.

That is the coolest thing ever to walk down the street and find a fruit tree just there available for the public.  I just never see that in the city.  You might drive down an alley and see some fruit hanging over a fence and decide that's public enough to grab a couple pieces of fruit.

Good find!

I'd be interested in trying some cuttings of that!  It must be really great to find random fig trees growing like that!

Looks great! I'm from NC, and spent lots of time in Raleigh.  PM me on the location of the tree please. Thanks. :)

Guys, with due respect, I am not disclosing the location of the tree for obvious reasons. The next thing I would hate to see is that tree getting clipped. Thanks for understanding.

It's a public tree, it's not like we are going to chainsaw it down.  I just wanted to try the fruit but thanks anyway.

If your interested in public fruit, there's a map for that. There's 5 figs mapped in Raleigh.

Fair enough. Since I am in NC please keep me in mind when it comes cutting exchange season.  I like trees that do well in my climate.  :)
