Looking for Persimmon Hybrid Scion

Hi folks.

I am looking for scion from a few varieties of hybrid persimmons. If anyone has a stick or two from the following varieties I would like to either work out some trades or pay you for them out-right:

- Rosseyanka
- Sestronka
- Kasandra
- Zima Khurma
- Mikkusu Kaki Hybrid

I might also be willing to try a couple of these pure Kaki varieties that have been reported to be pretty cold hardy:

- Cinebuli
- Saijo
- Great Wall
- Jiro

I'd be willing to trade with any variety of the fig cuttings I have.

I also have to offer scion of one variety of Kaki persimmon that Mario has been growing in KY for several years. His trees were loaded with fruit this fall. Him and his family call it Vanilla persimmon because of the flavor having a hint of vanilla. When I did some research on this variety I found that it may also be called the Chocolate Persimmon. So named because the interior flesh turns brown when ripe.

Note: Mario grows his persimmon trees on the north side of an un-heated garage. I was very surprised to see his trees not only surviving in zone 6 but clearly doing quite well. Beautiful, deep orange fruit.

I only have a few pieces of scion from Mario's trees but I'd be happy to part with some in order to get some of the above scion to work with.

Whatever I receive in trade I will also share with Mario so he can try some experimental grafting onto some of the native persimmon trees he has on his property. I'll be doing some grafting on a friends property nearby.

Thanks for helping in any way to acquire some of these nice persimmon varieties.

Have you tried England's orchard? They should have scion for at least a few mentioned.

Sent you an email, Bill!

Travis,
I had forgotten about them.

Thank you for that. Going to check them out.

Yes, it looks like they have some of those varieties @ $6 a piece. Figs are $12 per cutting - all varieties. Cool!

I have some nice sized rosseyanka cuttings if you still need them, especially if you can trade the chocolate ones

Hey Ed.

Sounds like we can work something out.

Sending you an email.

Thanks.

I have Rosseyanka and Saijo if you haven't worked those out with someone yet. Always interested in figs I don't have.

I have a Saijo persimmon tree. I got it from a local nursery called blossomberry. I also have elderberries Marge and Wyldewood. I would trade for Dottato. Are there any other types of fruit you are looking for? I am working on a collection of everything. I am in AR zone 7b.

What time of the year do you guys graft and what grafting technique works best on persimmons ? I am going to try a few new varieties myself but have not had much luck in the past.

I do my grafts in March- early April, right before bud breaks. But with warm temps this early, I would graft sooner. tongue and whip and cleft grafts have yielded higher success rates, grafting Persimmons (at least for me).

Navid.
