I was renting a 15 acre farm with a barn. It had a well and everything thing I needed. It was a friend's property that I helped ( money and time) remodel and clean up after it had been vandalized. 4 months in to living there he goes through a divorce and tells me I have 2 weeks to move out. I didn't agree so he had me evicted and in the county I lived in for non-payment ( gave cash was a friend ) they boot you out in 4 days. In the process of trying to move the house was ransacked ( most of that stuff was gone) but my barn had 2 generators and several tools etc..($5-8k) stolen and or destroyed in the process they drove vehicles through my garden containg all my fruit plants dragging behind what they could!

Wow, I hope you posting this will spur others to always obtain documentation.

I am Sorry your "friend" was not really all that much of a friend. I have wellspringsgardens version of Texas everbearing and an Unk. Sheepshead   (likely a Red Sicilian , has an open eye) I would send for postage ( which aint cheap BTW cost me near 19 bucks to ship priority , just one tree, a week ago. )

OTOH, You may be better off with a small inground orchard at home, and just some southern climate adapted figs like Chicago hardy, JH adriatic, Malta Black...I would get them from Encanto or Vasily (Herman2). From 3-4 good trees you could be swimming in figs.

I'm so sorry to hear you've had such bad luck. What a lousy 'friend'. You can recover from this and you will have figs again if you don't give up.

And they did this in the confines of the law?, is there no legal recourse?,do ou have somewhere to go?,i am so sorry to hear that this has happened, stuff like that shouldn't happen in this day and age, sounds like third world law-into-own-hands behaviour, nothing short of criminality meted out by the lowest degenerate form of human effluence,If I did not live on the other side of the world I would send you cuttings from what little I have.Maybe you should start a crowd funding site so people can help you get back on your feet?

How heartbreaking! :'(  Glad you have found a new place.
I'm just starting out myself, but I have an extra Kadota cutting that is potted up and has begun sprouting roots and leaves which you can have, if that would help.

Just send me a private message how you prefer to do so (pay pal or Money order)...I don't have full internet at home (just this phone) and I don't go to town everyday so response times may be slow on my end...but I will get back to you.

1.  Were you given a verbal or written notice to vacate?  I have family who are landlords in your state and they must go through legal hurdles with ample notice and court dates given to non-compliant tenants prior to eviction and Sheriff removal.

2.  What kind of thieves would even take or know the value of a fig tree?

At the heart of this, it sounds like a legal matter more than anything.  Even cash transactions for rent payment, cash and labor spent on said ex-friend's property are admissible in court.

No figs to give you, but you might want to follow up on this legal matter with a qualified attorney if what you say transpired is the case.

Glad to see the kindness in people here. This is what is wonderful about this forum. As I mentioned Before, I pray that some day you & your friend will make amends. In my book, a friendship is a lifetime commitment that is dearly coveted & never taken for granted.
God bless.

I spoke to a lawyer he said it would cost more than I would get back. When the thieves broke into the building they drove a vehicle though my garden and destroyed it only because it was in the way. I was going through my divorce at the time also amd My ex wasn't making things any easier for my son and I. I had to walk away to save my sanity! Could of, would of, should of

I have done some trading with a few members, otherwise on a personal note me and my ex wife started having problems and tried to work on things, then we have a son that was in the mix, my father sold the family company and just life was going on. I was also growing all the cuttings I had into what would of been beautiful trees producing good cuttings now. But now I have my son full time. We are settled and able to start rebuilding or home again. He loves (6 yrs) getting out there and helping me.
One of the blueberry bushes I had ( that was destroyed) I bought with him and planted it when he was first born. I wish I still had it.

I have a Jubilee Blueberry (Southern High Bush).  They're not easy to root but it can be done.  If you want some cuttings, PM me.

You r so right some time u have to let things go for your own health. It is still tough! I have heard next to death of a loved one divorce is the next highest stress cause. Add eviction on top of that wow! Anything we can do for you let us know. I use to have a friend that preached in Buford. So might be someone you could get with and vent, that always helps.

Good luck to u and glad u are able to rebuild.
