LSU DC 2??

Can anyone tell me anything about LSU Dead Cat 2? I only found one thread that vaguely covered the DC series but no specific information on this one variety.. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Is that a real fig name?

There are a number of LSU DC figs.. A guy was sent out to get cuttings of each of them before the mother trees were bulldozed. When he was there, he found a dead cat. Hence the name..

Ask Brian CAJUNB).

Fig pig also knows a lot about them but as far as I can tell most of them are not in circulation.  Meaning no one knows if anyone has live wood from them or not.

There are a few members that have them, first hand knowledge.  If those members want to ID themselves they will.  I don't know if the donor trees are still there or not.

I think member "pukzpukz" aka Joe is also very involved with the program and likely knows a lot about them....

What was the pulp color of 2?

I've been just giggling uncontrollably every time I think about this fig name. I can imagine.... "I'm interested in cuttings from your dead cat"...neighbor watching me get the mail "New variety, huh?" me "Yes. Dead Cat all the way from Louisiana. Supposed to be very tasty"....my kids "what kind did you get this time?" me "Dead Cat cuttings." kids to each other "We need to do an intervention. Now she thinks she can grow cats from cuttings." Now I think I need this variety.
