Does anyone know about LSU fig day?Is there one one this year?
The LSU Fig Field Days were the work of Dr. Charley Johnson who retired last year. The basic Fig Program has been moved from Baton Rouge to Hammond. It is unlikely that there will be any more in the near future.I was indeed fortunate to have been able to attend the last 2.
That's crazy man,I live in Hammond.I wish I knew more about this.
The field is still being there. You can visit it.
They had a "Field Day" last year but, as I understand it, there were no figs. Not sure why you can't find it:
I know where old Covington highway is.Im gonna follow up on this and y'all posted. Thanks for information I appreciate it.
The Hammond location has a fig orchard planted, but the trees are all young, only a couple years old. They also have a new olive orchard planted.
I would like to see the Hammond orchard. My nephew told me you can go to the Baton Rouge orchard and get cuttings.I think he's been back there in the day time with no problems.
Perhaps you and all others interested should contact LSU directly about your interest in continuing on the Fig Field Day?
Well, since this is a fig forum and the subject matter is fig related I don't see a problem with talking about it here.
I think she was saying that if enough people contact them then perhaps they would keep it going.
I think she was trying to be helpful. If enough people contacted them about a fig day it would probably encourage them to look into having another one.
@Jennifer, I agree with your suggestion. If enough people contact them, then perhaps they might start doing it again.
Sorry,I took it the wrong way.
If that is what was meant now is the time to clarify.I deleted my posts
