Could it be that MDDS needs to be fertilised? As I removed a couple of figs, I noticed the interior being dry and white, they fell off after I barely touched them.
From Calgoni also, it seems "like this variety needs pollination". To me it does or it doesn't or am I wrong and can it depend on the situation?

I noticed that some trees need water everyday when ripening until they swell. Others not so much. Give it a try.

In don't think that's the problem here, all my plants are on a drip system. The water supply is very balanced without any peaks. Also the only breba it produced this year ripened to perfection.

I thought you didn't get any ripe figs. Just probably young tree. If you get ripe figs it does not need the wasp.

Don't know about that. Seems Desert King will only produce breba's without the wasp, to name one.
And I just got one breba!

According to Baud, MDDS is a fig of the common type and does not need pollination by the fig wasp.
Figs can drop for many reasons, mostly when the tree experiences some kind of stress (lack of water, young age, cold weather, root bound,...).
If your tree is very young, I wouldn't worry too much. Give it another year and see what happens then.

Funny. one of my md2s has 2 maincrop figs. So I know that m2ds doesn't need the wasp.
You may have a mislabeled tree. Do you have pics of the leaves ? tree ? fruits ?
Is the tree in a pot ? in the ground ?
But to be honest, my md2s have me dreaming on their figs. I wish I could eat some fruits from them ... But my trees are just reaching good age for production ... I'm still hoping .
There is still next year ... I may get to taste the 2 fruits I have. But they are on a potted tree. And I'm still learning a lot on potted trees .

MDDS does not need pollination. 
We don't have fig pollinating wasps but I get ripe MDDS figs.

Madeleine des deux Saisons, does not need the wasp, but if your trees lacks in nutrition, the fruit quality might suffer. Do you have any pictures of your tree?

Often a few cool nights will kill the ripening process.

I had heard some others had similar experience.
Our nights are in the 6C to 10C these days and I see figs ripening here and there after late September.

Just now, I picked a ripe Madeleine des deux saisons. Al I can say, under optimum conditions it is a top fig.

We found these large, plump, brown figs with succulent pink flesh, reliably ripening on the cold rainy coast of Brittany in France, where all other cultivars failed. They have proven to ripen each August in the Pacific Northwest.
They are excellent eaten fresh, dried or for conserves. It is also called Angelica and is from the Anjou region. It will also do very well in warmer summer areas. Like many figs, in cold damp climates it is susceptible to botrytis.
It is called Madeleine of "two seasons" because it produces not only the "breba" overwintering crop in August but also a fall crop in October which like most other varieties, does not usually ripen in cool summer areas. Like many other varieties, it appears to be hardy to about 10 F"

Sas, that's a lot of good information thanks, my Dattero looks the same but it's new to me, first year fruiting they are very sweet ,they stay hard up to the last day. The name Dattero means date in Italian.

OK, this takes away the doubts I was having about Mdds needing pollination. Thanks all for your replies.

I will certainly wait until next year to give it a rating and after all I got to taste a breba fig in July off a two year old plant.

The plant originates from Baud, through a local seller, so it would be surprising to see it was not properly labeled. But just to be on the safe side, I'll take a picture in the coming days and have you experts look at it.

What is the hardiness zone for the Madeleine des deux saisons/ mdds?

It should be able to cope with minus 15 C, according to Baud. As I'm growing it in pots, it lost all of the brebas earlier this summer but started to produce a new crop right after.
Guess what, I returned from Jamaica, and two of the new figs ripened to perfection in cool, moist conditions. Figure that! On top of that I removed it from my greenhouse because of lack of space and it receives only a couple of hours of sunshine, if any with this early autumn weather we had last weeks (checked it on my cell phone while being away).
Its taste is great, I didn't expect that at all.
Only setback: it drops quite a bit of the new crop, at least 50%.

Thanks for the info. Nice photos. Read on the forum they produce good size figs. I just bought some cuttings that are rooting and will keep in pots. live in MI and working with cuttings that are starting to root.
