Mail cuttings from Italy ??

Can a family member legally mail me cuttings from Italy ?

Do you live in the US?

not out of country without proper paper work

Yes, he will mail them to me . i live in western PA zone 6. who needs the permit , him or me ?

Rather ask your relatives to mail those cuttings to me to Hungary :D

It is legal to mail plant materials within the European Union :)

Or to me in France, I'll keep you posted with pics :)

Best to get Fig trees from Bass (a Forum Member in PA).  See his "Trees of Joy" website.

If your relative sends you cuttings, they will need to get a Phytosanitary Certificate to mail them to the USA, and there may be a quarantine period of up to two years where you will have no access to the material!  If you try to go around the Import restrictions, you will be visited by a USDA Inspector who will confiscate the material and destroy it, all for good cause to avoid unwittingly introducing pests or diseases.

Thank you Kiwibob. I will pass the information on to my cousin. Don`t need any problems.

I have had reletives mail me cuttings from Greece two times now. And both times had no problems. With No papers. Give it a try I would think. Worst thing that can happen is they would just take them I would think.

~good advice ,they can take all your plants not just what you imported .plus fine you i have heard of this happening to people, do not take the chance. trees of joy has a lot of varieties and it is safe to buy from them ~

Just paint them and call it "crafts or decorations".
Maybe a Christmas candy cane?

Wooden sticks or pottermore wand woods lol

Too funny, Bama and Figgy! :D

if you had cuttings mailed to you I would not announce it on forum      USDA has eyes everywhere.
