This year my MBvs produced figs twice as large as they did last year when it was a much smaller potted plant. I actually had to double check my labels to make sure it was in fact MBvs lol. It could have waited a day or 2 longer but it was still very nice. I didn't like the fruit flies around it so I took it early in case they were SWD. This one was 48 grams.Tyler
Tyler,The same here, MBVS came all ripe last week and is over now.It came about full week ahead of Hardy Chicago, and two weeks after RdB.This year all of them came larger than a year ago.
Very nice. My tree is giving me a handful of figs every day lately. Great for the ground in zone 7, even though it has died back every year.
Hey TylerNice pics. I'm having trouble with wasps, yellow jackets digging holes into most of my almost ripe figs. only RDB has escaped their notice.Hi Frank, that is good to hear that it can die to the ground and still produce figs on the new growth.
Very nice Tyler thanks for sharing!
Yes very happy with it for sure. Thanks guys
Looks good

None of mine have long finger lobes like that Richie. I'm not sure what that one might be?Tyler
Thanks, just curious the fruit should be ripening in a week hopefully. I am not very patient on knowing what a unknown is. Lol
Here is one I picked today after noticing the skin was cracking quite a bit.. tasted great! Natural sunlight shows the colours much better :)
They look great! Do you have it growing in a container or in the ground?
Its in a 5 gallon pail with holes drilled out on the sides sunken into the ground about 3/4's. What a difference that has made this year. It drastically reduced watering and they all just look healthier.
Those figs look delicious. Hop I get to grow some that tasty.Larry
So it tastes as good as it looks? Very nice!
Hi Tyler : All looks great and delicious. Well done !!!
Thanks guys... its definitely a keeper for me.
My MBVS is a vigorous grower and like yours, this year they are bigger than last.Great flavor, lots of fruit. A definite keeper for me!One thing I really like is that over ripe fruit will not sour (at least not for me) it starts to dry and get a "jammy" texture with concentrated flavor!
Yes I am still working on my patience to not pick a fig too early... it really tough though! lolMaybe once the tree is giving me a basket full then I will be able to leave them alone longer lol.
Here is one from this year. Super tasty variety.
