First to ripen about 2 weeks ago is LSU Improved Celeste. Yesterday we picked a bunch of Florea and RdB's. Some Florea had over ripen. Also saw 2 variants have turned coloured. These 2 variants are Barbillone and LSU O'rourke. Many others in pot culture are showing their readiness to start their ripening journey pretty soon like Rob's Genovese Nero, Tena, KB, Scott Yellow, Cajun Gold, LSU Gold, Hollier, Nebo, Natalina, Norella, etc
Bodes well for Pacific North West to have LSU Improved Celeste to ripen this early. It is a high quality tasting fig.

Improved Celeste wasn't the first for me but this year it's been consistently one of the top 5 in flavor.

I bought a Celeste TC plant from Wellspring in June, is it supposed to be the same as Improved Celeste?

Thanks for the great information, I will carefully take care of my Tiny LSU improved Celeste, I hope that it is not fake one. Eric, I might be wrong, My coworker told me that her fig trees never have fruits for 5 years, I went to her house and it is Costco "Celeste", I gave her a Tiny "Desert king" with figs, She was very happen.

Well, after reading some of the old posts, I kind of understand the difference between Celeste, Improved Celeste and O'Rourke. Improved Celeste is now added to my wish list.

Art Knap nursery Langley have sold a variant known as Improved Celeste. It has no LSU designation. Another LSU variant ripening now is St Gabriel.
@ Herman2 - next season I will put my LSU Improved Celeste into ground. It is indeed a high quality fig.

Paul, thanks for the the information. However, I prefer getting cuttings because those fig tree sold in nursery seems too big that doesn't fit into a small car and they are pretty expensive.

LSU improved Celeste sounds like a good one for my area as well! My in ground trees are a ways to go still but Petite Negri is leading the pack for my container figs. Similar in looks and taste to VdB but larger and earlier ripening for me. These 3 figs could have stayed on a few more days but with a heavy rain coming I picked them. Interested in how others have found this fig?
