My first Verte of the year

Verte is early for me this year, down to warm and sunny May through June.
Couldn't resist picking one today probably two days from full ripeness. It was delicious anyway.
Apologies for my rubbish photo (pic 1, yes its my finger blurring the bottom)

Nice fig. Strawberry Bette I take it.

I have Strawberry Verte. Full of figs and hard as a rock.

It was just sold to me as Verte a late ripening fig which it was for me last year.
Last years figs were more of a pinky red colour, but maybe that's because they ripened later. I always thought that Verte was a synonym for Green Ischia so I don't really know if this is the same variety as Strawberry Verte. Perhaps Strawberry Verte is a variant that is only available in the States.
Still, what's most important is that they taste so good.

Yes taste is the he most important part. Inside reminds me of LSU gold only in the looks in how the pulp ripens down by the eye on goes up to the stem. Not green ischia. Verte looks to be a top notch fig.

That's a nice looking Amber Fig but Sorry, that's not "Strawberry Verte" or "Green Ischia"  : )

Spiff2,your leaf form is suspect for SV.This is the predominant leaf on the
ones I've seen out here.

No Paul, don't tell me that. Willsc help me out.

Could my "Verte" actually be "Excel"
After Frank's comment I had a search around and Excel looks a good match.
Does my leaf look right.

So can somebody tell me is Verte and Strawberry Verte the same? I have a Verte that I haven't gotten fruit from yet so I'm curious to know how it's gonna taste like and  look like on the inside.

Thank You
Richard
