Mystery fig cuttings "Final Call"

Thanks Gloria. I shared them with another friend from Sarawak (Borneo).

Norhayati

Two red barn figs have grown serious roots and I expect leaves soon.  Will post picture when they leaf out.

Have the plants been removed from the site? It would be nice if we could see the figs when they ripen, if they are still growing.

Mike in Hanover, VA

Last time I drove by the older second one was still there, it has been raining a lot so hard for the backhoe to move around.

Got them yesterday (RBF-2) they all had light mold all over them but I cleaned them off with light bleach solution and they should be fine thank you again.
PS the first batch RBF 90% are showing roots in the bin I potted one ..fingers crossed ill keep ya posted.

I am very new to the world of figs, and I am so excited that I have a house and a place to grow my own little figgies!  I live near Nashville, TN, and I noticed that fig growers have a problem with the winters here hurting their fig trees. It looks like these trees would be very resilient, seeing as how they are in VA.... Is it too late to receive cuttings from those trees??

Update:  This is a cutting from this unknown Red Barn.  How is everyone's else cutting doing? Thanks again Gloria!URB 8:1.jpg

Twovkay, how long did your cutting take to get to this stage?

The cuttings were planted on 6/17 and this was taken on 8/1, so about 45 days, put directly in pot with hormones on the root. I have another that has had a green bud for the last 3 weeks and has just started to break bud.

What kind of potting mix did you use?

Looking good!!!

Otmani, I'm using 50/50, Fafard 52mix and miracle grow moisture from Costco. All my figs are in this mixture. The Fafard 52mix lightens the mix.

Thanks, Gloria!

This is such a cool story . Thanks for bringing it back Shailesh. I hope all the guys and gals who got cuttings had the same success and soon will post a few more photos.
Well done Gloria. This is definitely a first class rescue in my book! long live ukn RBF.

I still think it is wicked funny that it rooted for everyone but me.... guess it has had enough of Fort Mill...

Thank you, but I really don't have space for anythingelse anyway

Mine didn't make it either.  The leaves look really interesting.  Can't wait to find out what it is, when it is id'd that I missed out on!

Looks Nice, I like your bags;

Since I don't have space to plant the tree in soil.... This is the only option..... We call it planter bag, it's made from polyurethane and uv proof.... So it has quite a lifespan..... At least 5 years for normal usage.

Thanks for sharing Ong. Love the little tree also. Very lively!

I'm curious how these cuttings turned out. Has anyone been able to identify them yet?
