Mystery fig update

So the mystery fig managed to ripen another fig, this time i believe it was fully ripe as there was a drop of honey (see photos below) and was very sweet! easily a 9.5/10 despite growing under a large tree and receiving a few hours of light.. the fig was just over 50g in weight. Any idea on what it might be? Definitely not a black genoa as i thought before.

Hi FigColt

Not easy this one. You need to try and remember where/whom you get it from and if others may have grown similar figs..in order to compare fruit shapes/colors.. leaves..
It could be a Kadota,  Dottato, a white Greek, Pingo de Mel -- ?? all these figs could be more or less  round shape.. light/honey amber  pulps,.. juicy etc.. the shape and color of leaves may also help.

Was your mystery fig fully ripe? Does this one look similar?

Think gardencrochet found a close family member or the same fig. Good eye.

Hie again Francisco, When we arrived at the new place 2 years ago, it was already there. It did not provide figs until i started paying attention to it and taking care of it. i doubt the previous home owners may have got figs from it. Unfortunately i am not in contact with them. I will have to ask my parents if they have the contact details of the previous owners. I don't want to appear to be creepy through although the curiosity is killing me.

After doing a bit of research could it be a preston's prolific? the image of the flesh and skin are below:

Yep exactly like that! What variety is that one?

Peter's honey

Thanks for that. i'll do more research on the peters honey variety so i can see links between the two.

Hi FigColt
These honey types, IMO, all derivatives from the Dottato do carry a particular set of characteristics,..
-round/spherical shapes - honey light sweet syrupy pulps - eye protected by yellowish bracts - if in the right soils, and climate main crop is extremely prolific -  may show a few  brebas  of  not high quality - if pollinated makes a world class dry fig.

Anytime, keep us updated. Thanks for sharing.

Upon further research i have decided that its not a Peters Honey. The typical leaf pattern on my Mystery fig is like the one below.

The one of my Peters Honey looks exactly like this one:

 Fruit:
My Mystery is more green than yellow and not as "honeyed looking" as peters Honey. I bet the Peters honey would blow it out of the water in terms of productivity and taste any day.

I am thinking that its a variant of the Conadria fig although its super rare here.

May be you find a bit of time to look into this exchange of posts regarding 'Figo Branco' a still popular and good Common fig from the Madeira Islands.

'Branco' as it is called over there has similarities with your 'unknown' - mystery fig.
