Name confusion

I took delivery of a fig from Portugal called Lampo preta. I then see various mutations of this name e.g. Lampo preto, Lampa preta, Lampiera preto etc, etc. are they all the same fig or are there different types?

The most used name is Lampa Preta (Lampo Preta is incorrect). We have the expression "figos Lampos" - with means Brebas, so you could use Lampo Preto to designate the type and color of the fig. Lampo Preto means that the fig is a Breba of Black color.
But the correct name of that particular variety of Breba is Lampa Preta. Some people use Lampeira (not Lampiera which is wrong) but that is much less used and it's associated with another variety.

Check the letter L in this website - https://figuesdumonde.wordpress.com/

OK, thank you very much for that.

Hi all.

Kelo, Jaime answered your question, but i have to say something about the link that he posted.
I'm happy to see the new Figues du Monde website, i often looked at this, then it disappeared for a while, but now luckily there is again this source of info.
I did not realize that this Gentleman (i know him, we made an exchange, he is very kind!) owns a nursery, i'm happy to know it, i thought he was a simple collector.
I'm sure that not many europeans know that there is this big source of info and varieties, deserves advertising.
I would like to contact him.
Thanks Jaime!

Sorry Kelo, this is a bit OT, i know.

You are right, Fico. Thierry is a gentlemen and is doing a wonderful job with his website. Lots of illustrated information on many varieties.
