Need advice

This is my friends brown turkey fig in March before leafing out. It has leafed out now but only has one fig (it had several last year). The side shoots are getting really long and we are wondering if it can be pruned now after leafing out in late spring. Also, where will the new shoots come from? Thanks so much! We are newbie fig growers!

You typically want to prune before the leaves start popping out. It looks like it needs more sun. The more sun the better.

It does have large leaves on it now. If it already has one breba fruit, should I fertilize it now in hopes for more of a main crop and then wait until early spring before leafing out to prune it for next year?

I'd fertilize with a pretty balanced fertilizer. I use miracle gro tomato at 1/3 recommended strength. Leaves and fertilizer don't mean anything without sun.
