My Negronne has given me a few mature figs 7 months after being grafted.

They were quite sweet and they lived up to my expectations.

It's good to be able to taste figs from a new variety less than a year after receiving a cutting.

I hope i may be able to try my Sbayi. It was also grafted in March like the Negronne and has an almost mature fig and many others that are a little behind.

Here's my Sbayi, also grafted in March. One of the figs is almost ripe, the others still have a few weeks to go and the cold nights are beginning. Let see if i am lucky...

Congratulations
What a performance!
You getting practically 100% take plus the fig samples in the same season. This is very good and indicating your good timing for grafts as well as the best method selection and good tooling.
Have you already tested the 'Triangulum' method on figs (incrustação)  ?
Hope to try it this coming season on an old, stocky, but very healthy côtea.

I believe you are referring to this variation of the bark graft.

 


No i didn't try it yet in figs. I also don't like very much the bark graft for figs. I prefer to cut a larger diameter branch and graft the small branches that grow afterwards.
The unions are much cleaner in the long run.







I also have a ripe Bomfim in the same tree (the grafted lower branches on the left of this last photo)



It's quite a big fig.
One was completely open because of the latest rains, but this one looks fine although i had to pick it a few days too soon
(i was leaving and i was afraid that it would open like the first one).




So i am giving this one another day to mature a bit more and then will open it to taste it and to take a couple of photos of the pulp.







Is this fig variety (named Bomfim, Sofeno Claro or 3 num Prato), what you remembered?

Nice results Jaime! The graft in post #6, how is it made? Do you remove some wood in the Z shaped notches or do you just split the wood?

Jaime the pink patches on your sbayi are amazing.

I hope you got some heat to ripen them, even so they will be great as they are known to give excelent primary crop around july.
I think thats why the name is sbayi- from the word seventh in arabic

Maybe try a small dab of olive oil on the eye? at least on the ones that are behind.
