new cuttings starting to show fruit. Remove?

Hello all, usually on the boards reading and learning from everyone and their posts.
Need some help, i am starting to root some cuttings under a grow light, 2 weeks in and already they are growing well.
question .. some started to grow figs already. the cuttings are really small and new.. should i be removing them?
thanks fig.jpg

I would say yes to remove it as asking the cutting to support leaf growth while also supporting the growth of the figlet may be asking too much.... If, on the other hand, this cutting is a duplicate or triplicate of a variety you already have and you are willing to take a chance to see if it will work out then go ahead and leave it...

That's quite impressive though I agree it's probably best to remove it.

Remove it.

It will only take energy from the cutting you are trying to grow.

Good luck with your plant.

Is it a common thing for cuttings to put out figs? I only ask as I have fairly large trees that leafed out weeks ago and not a single fig. I have cuttings on the way and will be removing the figlets as they form.

About half of my cuttings put out figlets this year. I removed them though to help reserve energy for rooting.

Thanks everyone for your insight, my goal is to grow the plant at this stage so will be taking the advice of removing them.. thanks again everyone

Only other thing that I would mention based on my own observation and that is that it's best to snip the figlet away by cutting it at its figlet stem, if possible, rather than rubbing away the figlet growth at the node.... this is especially true if you had wrapped the cutting in parafilm and the figlet pushed through the parafilm. Rubbing away the figlet at the node seems to leave that little gap in the parafilm where mold or rot can get in and damage the cutting while snipping the figlet at its stem tends to allow the remaining stem piece to shrivel and fall off by itself and leave the node where it sprang from in  better shape afterwards...

Thanks for the information. Will do .. I was planning on using small snipping scissor to cut them off and will dip the scissor in hydrogen proxide before.. to minimize the chance of contamination on the cut. Right now I have the cuttings in a 20 Gallon storage tote with a 18 inch Sunblaster T5HO light mounted inside.. the cuttings are all taking off and a few of them have the figlets that I need to remove tonight.
