New Fig additions

Just ordered some fig plants from Figs For Life in British Columbia.

I got a Brunswick, Italian Honey, Stella and Verte.

The plants came very well packaged. Two of the plants are in great shape two need a little fertilizer and they should be fine.

Wow, you really like fig trees, They are not cheap, Are u going to plant them in ground? or Are u going to store it inside your house?
I just got some cuttings of " Strawberry" fig tree, too hard to take care of them during winter time in my house, I am going to root them next spring time.

They were $20 each which I thought was a fair price.

These will be kept in pots and will stay outside as long as possible and I will do the fig shuffle to my garage when needed. I will then overwinter my figs in my basement cold room.

Thx for posting tinyfish.  I had never heard of them and now I have another source for plants here in Canada and they do have a few varieties I am looking for. Once you add up the shipping it gets a little pricy...IMHO...but sometimes you gotta pay to play.

In Canada it us difficult to find stores with any type of fig selection. I have also orderex from Brugmansia-Québec.

If I were you, I will buy fig trees at spring time, it is hard to take care of them at winter time.
I agree with you that it is hard to get fig selection in Canada, not only this, I find scale pest from Brugmansia-Québec trees and fig mites from Craigslist fig collector's seller, It is hard to buy good pesticides in Canada, I can not even get neem oil, I bought " Pure green oil" = $26 from Can-tire, waste time and waste money, What work for me was "$12 = bug B gon", it is $1 worthy of Canola oil with One tiny dry daisy flower, Finally, I spent $1 to buy 2 bags of daisy flower seeds for next year.

I will buy drip irrigation for next year, It took me 30 min to water them once, They need to water twice per day at summer time, Just do not have time to water them so often..

I bought 3 yards of bark mulch and 1 yard of mushroom manure last week,  I mixed 1 yard bark mulch with 1 yard of manure with peat moss with lime and 1/2 box of  Cheap CIL Can-tire Granular fertilizer, with some Can-tire 5 gallon pails, I up-potted all my fig trees with this stuff, and put all remain bark mulch on my garden's bed, I put all my potted fig trees there for whole winter because I want to kill all hidden fig mites by mild colder weather here, I hope that no more fig trees work till next year mid spring.

Other problem with fig trees here, Like "your tree for joy " Verte", Are they
"Green Ishisa" or  "Strawberry Verte" or Strawberry, Etc. ?

and your "Italian Honey", Are they same as
"Lattarula", "White Marseilles"?

Anyway, good luck for all your fig trees, With your hardwork,  I hope that they will bear lots of figs for you next year.

Thanks for your reply Ricky. I agree it is best to buy in the spring time but I thought I could grow them for a few weeks maybe a month then I will overwinter them in my cold room and then get a head start next spring.

Not that I'm an expert but I think my purchase have been mite/scale free...I hope.

I'll keep your custom bug mix in mind for when needed.
