Hi my name is Naeem and I am from Ellicott City MD zone 7A. I joined this forum in December 2016.  This is my first post and I am starting this by saying big thanks to forum member " FiggyFrank " who answer each and every question I have and some more with great suggestions.  This forum has all the great information you will ever need to grow figs and thankful for that too.  

I tasted one fresh fig last year and thought I should have a plant or two.  Bought few cuttings from forum members.  I started 35 cuttings on December 28th and on January 21st all the cuttings have good roots and some with roots on both side which I cut into half and make them two.  Now its four weeks and I want to show week by week how these looking.  Since this is my first post I have to learn a lot about adding pictures so please be with me. I am also rooting about 35 more cuttings in coco which I started on Feb 4th  to Feb 10th which are not quite ready.  

 This is the coco coir I used


After about 20 days some cuttings have more roots like this and some less looking like this

This is how I put my cuttings in plastic shoe box and cover with coco

I put these in a coco and perlite mix of 50/50 in 18 oz clear cups with holes on the sides and bottoms this picture was take on 01-21-2017 first day in plastic bin

Few things what I did to summarize this

Coco coir was moist but not too wet this is very important
temperature was exact  75 degree F in plastic box in coco coir

When I transferred these from coco to cup in perlite coco 50/ 50 mix  room temperature was 66 degree F in my basement but I have to put heating mat under plastic bin with temperature from 76 to 81 degree F with lights off  and light on. Humidity stays between 75 to 90 I do often remove cover to water or just letting fresh air in.

Water with spray bottle once a week 

No fertilizer or rooting hormone used up to today

Lights stays on for 14 hours 

You may ask any question if you have or suggestions 

I do not know how many will make to plants I have not lost any cuttings up  to today but have two cuttings with wilting leaves and still watching these.

 I have uploaded two more pictures for last two weeks to see weekly progress. So far I have lost nine cuttings out of 35 due to wilting leaves, I am still searching for a reason.
 Only thing which I could say thin cuttings use all the energy on roots and do not have left anything to keep going.  If somebody know or have anything in their experience please share it.

Everything looking good except some wilting cuttings please see today's picture.  Also I am exposing cuttings to room temperature while leaving bin cover off for
30 minutes with no set back and I will increase time slowly. Also cuttings are getting misting once a day to adjust to room temperature.

But I am growing vegetables from last fifteen years.

Will try that stuff this year, when I uncover my Swiss fig tree, hoping the base gets big enough to go unprotected here in CT. was scare to try until I finally rooted a back up, if it don't die in the spring have no problem with other figs I have. Only the Swiss is hard to root, unless the hardly bark makes it tough for the cold, but also tough to root, its not what i'm doing wrong, because I have other figs rooting right next to the Swiss cuttings, and the others are shooting roots, and growing fine It's a large fruit too
