New to the forum

Hi,  I'm new to the forum, and only been growing fig trees for two years now.  I'm soaking up as much information as I can on how to grow figs successfully.  The more I read,  the more I figure out how much I really don't know.  Thanks

Hello and welcome.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot to learn, but don't be afraid to ask questions, or suggestions on growing appropriate varieties for your area as everyone is friendly and willing to help. Good luck!

welcome, figs are an addiction so buckle up.

Welcome to the wonderful world of figs. Hope you had a great 40th Birthday.

Thanks bigbadbill, I'm in zone 7a and so far I have a brown turkey fig, White Sicilian, black madera, and what a guy is calling a smugglers fig. I'm definitely interested in knowing what varieties grow best here in Connecticut.

Hi Steve and welcome.

I am around the corner in Wallingford.

This fig stuff will go a whole lot easier if you are single.

Other than that, the only major obstacle is time.

Have you managed figs on the Madeira yet?

I have a first year Fico Preto which is somewhat similar, but earlier.

They'll almost make it this year and should come around next season.

On the next forum page or so, check out the "Shoutout to Harvey, James and friends" post I made and you can see many of my figs. First pics are @ July, at the end are last month.

Need a Plant? lol. If you look, you will see your future.

Mike

Mike[/QUOTEThanks Mike, my black madeira is a first year also. So my wife is not going to appreciate my new obsession, that's pretty funny.]
