Next Step for Cuttings - Opinions Please

A friend of mine gave me a cutting from her uncles tree in Queens, NY, this was about a month ago.

I put the cutting in a glass milk jar and initials developed about a week later.

Now the cutting has 4-5 roots and I would like to ask the forum's opinion on where to go from here.

Thank you for your anticipated input!

Of course the photo will not upload from the phone, below I've posted two links.

Dom,
I don't know when it starts getting cold in NJ,but you can always do it indoors. You have to worry about giving too much water and those damn gnats. Those roots look great, what did you do?
Personally,I would use 1" parafilm and place in HP soil.
There is a lot of great info here:

I took the cutting and used the miracle grow hormone I use when I clone my peppers and put it into the milk bottle and set it by my window

So at this point you would pot the cutting or let it continue in the water?

What is HP soil?

Thanks!

Dom

I'm sorry it's called pro-mix hp. It's bagged soil that they sell at some Home Depots. I've been getting mine from amazon, make sure you get the free shipping ones.
I would place it in soil with a humidity dome or parafilm tape.

Nice roots Dom! Good work.

Thanks Devin,

How did you do this summer in Maine? Do you have a hard time finding hardy enough varieties in your area?

Dom

I got two off of a two year old and the others are all growing into trees nicely. Because my winters are too drastic I have been focusing on early varieties, ones with a heavy Breba, or San Pedro. Especially trying to find rain resistant ones. So far they are growing well for me, we shall see how the fruit development goes as I do not have high summer heat.
