I know this has nothing to do with figs, but wow, I can't believe what some people can ruin just for the heck of it.  I went see this tree in October and it was amazing!  I'm glad I got to see it before it was gone...What a shame...Here are few pics of the tree when I was there last October.

As a Florida resident, I can repeat this old nugget without getting into trouble...maybe.

"It seems that all the nuts roll down to Florida".

Haha, my dad retired to FLA. I've modified the quote.....

"It seems that all the nuts roll down to Florida.... and drive slow in the left hand lane with their turn signal on".  :-)

On the bright side, it wasn't a fig tree. There, now this thread is on topic.

I am glad to see that FL is taking some of the heat. CA usually gets the rap for being the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes.

Yep, another life destroyed by meth. and I'm not talking about the accused. As a footnote efforts are once again being put forth to collect viable DNA from now what remains of the tree. Wilforager we drive slow here because we aint in no hurry and whats a turn signal Ha Ha.:-)

This is just awful. But your pics are great.

Did she use some kind of fire starter or was it meth lab chemicals? You would think a tree that huge would have a tough time going up like that so quickly.

I would like to know what happens to this person. This is just not any tree and I would hope they would be able to tack on a longer sentence for destruction of a national historical site or something like that?
