What about rest of central europe?

Sorry to hear that. Weather around the globe seems to be getting more volatile in general. It often seems that when we are cold on the east coast of USA you are warm in Europe and vice-versa. Maybe we will have a mild winter this year?

Hi the first fig is in pot, so during winter time fig will be in basement. There is no any cover, it's all snow. Something about 7 cm (~2.75 inches). The second fig is Michurinsk-10 probably one of the most cold hardy fig from bulgaria, and that fig was planted in this year, so I will have to think about winter protection. But forecast are good for my location. In saturday may be +20 C (68 F) ;)

Looks like a beautiful winter wonderland! I too sometimes wish it was Mediterranean weather here. But I think I would miss the 4 beautiful seasons and winter is a time to catch up on other things..LOL Your fig leaves will be falling off now. Will you be taking some cuttings and covering them up for winter before temps dip too far?

When I was a kid I could not wait for winter. Today I hate winter and cold. I would like to have some mediterranean climate, but with a little bit milder summer. ;) 32C (90F) is enough during summer. Until forecast will not show -10C (14F) I will be not cover fig. In last year that was end of december.

Hi Maris, Do me a favor: keep the snow at your place for some days more, don't send it to the west. For 2 weeks, I've been thinking that the weather is damn soft this year for October - and no wet enough. Well, this morning we had 5°C/41°F only ..brrr... that was cold already. I went to the garden and fetched some 5 kg/11 lbs of figs. I'll be making jam tomorrow - I'm short on jars ! and I'll have to buy some more. Most of my trees are all green still - Only "Madeleine des deux saisons" and some potted fig trees are all yellow. Here, this year was a good one for the fig trees.

Hi Guys! Here we also have bad weather, and they are predicting much more colder to the weekend. It might snow. So the weather is not the best its fogy, and raining constantly, but fortunately there are only a few more figs left to ripen. I hope we'll have better weather and they'll have good taste. In my collection some figs are already dropping their leaves like Orsara, Saint Martin, Hardy Chicago, and the freckled beauty is already ready for winter so it's totally naked :) They are in pots so I don't have to affraid from the winter, if its going to snow I will put them into the garage.. Only the Michurinska is wintering outside but I think I'll have no problem with it.

Weather changed here pretty fast last week in northern Germany. We dropped from sunny 68F days/50 night time down to 50F in the day and 32F in the morning hours. pretty cold and unusual fot the beginning of October. I heard in the forcast today that that early "pre winter" doesn't indicate a cold winter 14/15. it also can be pretty mild as the last ones.

Opposite thing happened to me.
Had some days of rain and removed figs thinking they wouldn't ripen.
Now I find out that it will stay above 30c for more time.
Ironic ah?
