OT: Blue Oyster Mushrooms

Yes I have many addictions, Here is a picture of 2 X 4lb wheels of oka with mushrooms before washing the rind and aging and 1 X 2lb Edam hot out of the press.

OK. Now I'm really jealous. Those look awesome! How long do they age?

I have half of 1 oka wheel and half of the Edam wheel left. They are vacuum sealed so they are about 7 months old now. 

Sounds delicious. I had wanted to make my own cheese, but with all my other activities, I don't have time or space.

I hear you, another hobby that is lots of fun but takes time and life gets busy.

I will defiantly be picking your brains in the future about the process of colonising and growing mushrooms on logs in the future. I will have to do some reading and will consult if necessary( I'm sure it will be).

Not sure how much I can help with logs, as I grow mine in bags, but I'll help if I can. If you contact muskie on mycotek.org, he is a treasure trove of info on ALL things mycology, and more. Very good guy. He does an enormous amount of shiitake logs, among other things.

Thanks for the offer jrewhirst . I hear you on starting another thread, I did think of that but didn't think I was hijacking the discussion as most of the dialog was with leanderfig the creator of the thread.
