I really haven't been paying too much attention to the news lately, but that changed when I heard Costco, of all places, ran out of bottled water.  I turned in to the Weather Channel and the first thing I saw was this...

The islands are such a tiny spot in such a huge ocean but it sure seems to be aiming right for you, stay safe.

Riding through the Atlantic season with my fingers crossed.

Best of luck to you....

Can't say I do not follow the weather pretty closely this time of year -- hurricane season is about the only time we get decent waves around here :D

Good luck!  I don't envy you but the Farmer's almanac mentions a hurricane threat for the mid-atlantic area in Sept. so we may be going through the same thing.

Looking at NOAA's National Hurricane Center, My guess is your greater risk is Iselle, the first appraching storm. It looks like it wii pass to the west side of the archipelago at hurricane strength. Later, hurricane Julio is projected to weaken and pass the islands on the east side. Good luck to you and all on the islands! Joe

Mahalo for all your best wishes. I've been busy securing all the loose yard items at our house and my parents house, taping up windows and stuff.  Me and my son went and harvested what we could at my parents (mango, avacado, soursop, sapote, and papayas) , but looks like the winds will blow some of the fruits right off.  I never thought that I'd be doing the "fig shuffle" ever, but then again, there's always a first, LOL! We'll let you know how everything turns out!

Aloha everyone. Please forgive me for the absence.  Everything's fine here on Oahu.  Barely even a breeze.  Well, most places.  Some gusts, but nothing too bad.

As for the Big Island, from what I hear from family living there, they're okay, too.  Just a bunch of broken branches, minimal-moderate flooding here and there, and spotty power outages.  But generally speaking, everything's hunky dory.

As a matter of fact, several memes have been posted regarding the "seriousness" of the storms here on Oahu...

Mahalo for your concerns, fig community!
