Lol! Not sure which is more amazing.... the "hybrid" they produced or the fact that anyone actually has sufficient free time to go through the trouble of making these weird fruit video's ....   :-) I guess in the end, we should all be thankful that someone does have the free time; the rest of us working folks can sure use the comic relief every so often....

@SAS ... I'm thinking that perhaps a pear would be a good choice.... My rationale is simple.... everyone knows that the only thing better than a fully ripe fig.... is a pair of fully ripe figs....    :-)

A fig is different than other fruits.  Its a false fruit, a synconium (inverted flowers & seeds together in a mass).  
Why not take main crop san pedro and caprify with a ficus palmata to get single lobe leaves like a pawpaw. Use genetic engineering surgery to transplant the germosplasm to a PawPaw fertilized seed.
The new tree would be a figpawpaw.  
You can make into a chorus and sing or say it with a beat in 3/4 rhythm.
