Wow that is a great deal I've been looking for those for a month nothing like a ripe Tiger Fig I'll check tomorrow thanks for the heads up

Whoop Whoop.... Trader Joe's, Danbury, CT.... here I come!

wow great price, how is this figs taste compare to your ripening DK?

Hard to believe 15 figs in a box for $5

I am thinking this offer may only be available in Washington State or proximity but I remain eternally hopeful and will take advantage any bargains as soon as I am aware of them....

we will compare notes tomorrow Tony after our recon mission

Deal....

Both wife and I liked the DK much more. I thought the Panache was handicapped by not being the freshest it could possibly be. It is hard to compete with fresh picked.

I guess that you are right about Panache, I bought some black mission figs from store, it was OK but I prefer fresh picked DK figs.

I ate a few more. I now think the Panache is really really good. Not fully ripe Panache figs are still very good unlike DK which tastes like a vegetable at that stage. DK has to be dead ripe at which point it is amazing.

If I had long hot summers, I would definitely grow Panache.

Picked up a couple of boxes at Trader Joe's here in Denver. Panache and black missions, very tasty!

Just picked up 6 boxes of the Trader Joe figs in Danbury CT. They are all California Brown Turkey figs.... Big and juicy and each box is only $3.99. The numbers of figs per box varies as does the individual ripeness and flavor of the figs but overall, a nice opportunity to savor some fresh figs. I bought a bunch as even though they are CBT's and don't pack the flavor profile of even a nicely ripe Balck Mission from California, I am going to serve them at a weekend barbecue as a starter course, wrapped in prosciutto.... BTW... the TJ's also had boxes of smallish ORGANIC Black Mission Figs from California. Those boxes were only $.50 more per box but since the figs were on avg smaller than walnut sized, I didn't think they would do for my purpose although I expect they would be decent finger bites if they were ripe at that size...

Ya we have been going to trader joes in eastern Washington, bought several boxes of figs last few weeks.  Never had fresh figs till this year, am growing 11 trees lol.

Picked up a couple of boxes in Houston. First time stopping at a Trader Joes. They only had two boxes left, and I took both. One CA Brown Turkey and the other looks to be Black Mission. Both are pretty under ripe, but still fairly good. The BT are better.

UPDATE - The black figs (Mission ?) are so unripe that they're inedible. Totally unripe. So, check them first. Or stick with the BT and Panache.

Panachée in Sardinia, caprified.
The skin is a little hard to peel, because of the extremely hot and dry climate, taste similar to berry jam.
I usually don't like that acid flavor, but i prefer this fig to other white ones wich have a plain fig taste.
