Hi guys this is Kausik from Adelaide, Australia. This just a update of my Panache this year. It fruited first time and I was really looking forward to taste it. The fig is sweet and exciting. Obviously it will improve over time. I must confess it is a beautiful looking fig.

I share your excitement. I an hoping to tast my first one this year too!

Very nice!  Good reason to be excited - nice accomplishment!

Congrats mate, I am hoping to have my first Panache crop this year myself (Sept.?) and also am rooting CdD Rimada, another variegated fig.

Received a dormant Panache from my wife for Christmas.  Woke it up and it's been growing indoors since.  Looks to be about 3 years old.  I think that I'm more excited to see fruit from this variety than any other this year.  This is a pic my wife took of the last fig on the tree when she bought it last year.

Beautiful fig!  Looking forward to my first ripening this summer.  Congratulations!

Nice. And good work. Was the fig fully ripe. make a nice addition to fruit salad in taste and color
.

It's definitely one of the most striking figs. I had a couple last year on my tree and they were good. Not 'great' yet, but the tree is still young.

Thanks guys. It is one of the most desired fig tree and I am lucky I have couple. The taste definitely will get better with age.
Thanks
Kausik

This was on top of my list when I first heard of it. With lots of sun this is a good one.

Thanks Rafael. Those are in my dream list as well.
May be will go for next year.
Thanks
Kausik

Congrats.  This is probably still my favorite fig but some others I've added in the last couple of years are challenging it for the top spot.

Looks so cool man :)
Love the pics!

I love the look of Panache!  My young tree put on figs last year but they did not ripen.  Hopefully I will get to try a few this year.

Thanks guys . Hopefully next year I will have plenty to enjoy.

A chimera! Interesting fig to have. Well done!

Hi,
I am searching for a panache struck cutting for a while and it has been extremely hard to find. Would anybody know where I can buy them or have one? I am in Qld. I am happy to pay for it.

Thanks

The season at Willabrand fig farm ,I believe, is at peak.  >http://www.freshfigs.com.au/<
Apparently, visitors can pick their own figs !
Wonder if they may have either cuttings or small trees on sale
Among several varieties they grow and sell the famous Spanish Dessert  black fig

Thanks Francisco. I will give them a call. Does spanish dessert black fig need a pollinator?

That is a very good question Reen
For several years the info on most Ag Australian publications and papers did show this fruit as being a Smyrnoid but very recently some say that the tree may in its infancy drop a few figs but , as it ages it will mature full crops.
Am too far away but would love to pay a visit to that farm and taste those magnificent figs!!

I believe that some of our Australian fellow members are growing this variety.. they may chime in to tell their experience
Have distant relatives living close to Adelaide and trying to convince them to try and pay a visit to that fig farm now!

PS - Here a recent reference on the behaviour of SD variety

I hoping mine will ripe this season but I doubt it its getting on a bit late in the season now, may be next year.

Hi Figalot,

Is there by any chance you would have some cuttings of your tree that I could purchase in the near future? I live in QLD and will pay for the postage as well. I am keen to learn about your other varieties. I am also interested in VDB, celeste and other yummy varieties.

Thanks

Panache this year was absolutely beautiful. Great taste and seems the tree finally into growth phase. One of the best fig tree in my collection .
