Great! Where at?

Louisiana outside of new Orleans

LOL!  Evidently Z6 in NJ is a lot different than Z6 in RI!

Historically, May 1 has been a typical date for bud break here, but this year the plants seem to be roughly a week ahead.  Even so, there are hardly any leaves.  I'll post pictures if you really want, but there's not much to see.

Yes. About 7-10 ahead of last year although the next 10 days forecasted only to be in 60s so we shall see! Bud break this year was Apr 12.

Here are mine today. The third picture is the same tree from last year on May 25. This year still about 10 days ahead.

The last picture is my peach tree.

Here in zone 7a I still have some young in-ground figs that haven't really leafed out yet though buds are green and slowly swelling.  We've had a cool, wet Spring.  I'll try to include some photos tomorrow.  figgi11 your trees are so well taken care of!  My property is too large and my trees too numerous for them to be that well kept.  Plus I've been working on putting in an orchard with a variety of fruit trees all Spring and there hasn't been much time for other things.

Nice lookin trees fig111 !

Here are some of my in-ground trees.  They were all protected to varying extents.  The Nero600m has quite a bit of dead wood that needs to be pruned.  The wood on the Ital-258 and Briguglio is alive but they are just now (with this week's heat wave) coming out of dormancy.  Hopefully in future years when they are more mature they will wake up quicker.
Edit: I am unable to figure out how to change the order which is scrambled.  Hopefully, you can see the variety name by mousing over the image.

As you may remember, most of my in-ground trees were ravaged by voles.  Here are two exceptions.

The first is Brooklyn White.  It's a youngish tree that was put in-ground last year.  During the winter it was protected under a "figloo."  Note the nice breba.  FWIW, I have a Sal's EL (not pictured) next to the BW that is in similar shape.  It has a few tiny breba buds, each at the very tip of a branch, but I don't think they will survive.

The second is Gene's Paradiso.  It's an air layer taken the summer before last, then put in the ground last year.  During the winter it was not protected at all, other than being located on the NE side of a big rock (visible in background).  There are small leaves (half dollar size) coming out of the younger wood, buds popping on the older wood.  As far as I can tell, there was no winter damage.  Note that there are a couple of tiny breba buds.

The two above Chicago Hardy trees survived 8 nights below 20 degrees (that I remember) this past winter with zero protection. The only damage was to the terminal buds that had started top pop this Spring right before a week of really cold weather. They are not close to a wall and they are on the corner of my garage on a small hill where the wind whips around like crazy. These trees are 2 years old.

Here's the latest of my two Celeste. No fruit drop this year either!

Nice tree! Looks like a brown turkey. Eye is pink before ripening

Here is my first Kadota in pot. Not many but first time I overwintered indoors. It started budding in early March. Kadota doesn't do well inground here even with winter protection.
