Thanks, Pino. I have Lattarula but the trees are only 2-3 years old. Even so, I've been pleasantly surprised by the sweet honey flavor. But like you, I prefer dark figs.
Re LSU Purple, I harvested my first from this variety recently. I was stunned by the rich flavor, suggesting maple sugar. I've been told that this variety, more than any other, needs to be REALLY ripe for best flavor -- with a wrinkled and cracked skin. If rainfall and heat (and varmints) permit, try leaving the figs on 3-4 days longer just to see what difference that makes.
