Most people root their cuttings, and then go to a 1 gallon pot.  Whats the next size up you would go to, and when?  I'm looking for the pot vs age of cutting or pot vs growth formula :)

Thanks

This is how I have been doing it for the last few years.

1, 3, 5 or 7 then usually 2 sizes up every year. I wait for the roots to look  filled up but not compacted- no set formula. If they do become compacted, I score the roots with a box cutter. If it's extreme, I cut an inch or two from the sides and bottom with a hack saw and repot in 1 size up-ex if it was in a 5- I cut and go to a 6 or 7.

Being almost rootbound when a bit older helps for production on most varieties but won't allow for much growth. Pinching still always a good alternative.

1, 3 then 10 gal. it worked for me. once it goes to 3 gal, i change the soil from potting soil/perlite to pine bark, moss and perlite in 5:1:1. so far working nicely.

I go for 1 gallon to 3 gallon to 18 or 20 gallon, but I'm lazy.
