This is my two year old Preto that I got as cuttings from Tyro.

Last year she was my best tasting fig.  This year I have been picking figs off since late July knowing they wouldn't ripen, I left 130 on.

 Slowish grower, but no other similarly sized tree wants to produce as many figs as Preto, I believe she would have put on 200 figs if I had let her.

I would say Preto is the closest thing I have to a dwarf fig tree. Most 2 year old trees with pinching are over 8 feet, she is a comfortable 6.5 feet tall.

About 10 have either spoiled or split, doesn't look as though these are gonna ripen, we are getting into the 30-40s for lows soon.

Ahh next year, always looking forward to next year.
 
 

Nice Preto! Congrats! That is a good number of great figs to get... I am eternally hopeful for my own future fruiting...

Looks really nice Don.Preto is such a tease,as you noted it hangs a wild amount of fruit.
Even here,an interior So.Ca.valley,alleged fig heaven,only 50% of the fruit ripens.I've taken
to thinning the existing fruit set in late July and then removing most of the fruit that forms after that.

Always looking forward to next year too like my new Orleans Saints lol. Your preto is large and groomed nicly. Good work
