I was reading a post where someone wrote that they couldn't post a picture because the image was bigger than 1MB. As many of you know this forum is set up to accept pictures of maximum size 1MB. It also has a lifetime limit that once you exceed, you can post no more pictures on any post.

I'm sure we're all missing out on some great fig-pics because of this.

I know some of you have already figured out ways around this but for those of you who spend more time with your trees than on a computer then 1) I commend you and 2) here's a step by step method on how to insert images hosted through a free image service.

I used this method to post the pictures on this very post. If you run into any snags let me know and I'll do my best to clarify. Here we go:

You've likely run into one or both of the following errors:

 
          OR

 

          SOLUTION - In another browser go to: https://postimg.org
                             - Then click on "Choose Images"



 

         
          Select image from your computer and click OK



 


          Drag over and copy the "Direct Link"



 

          Now go back to your post in the forum and click the little "add image" icon

            
          Instead of "My Computer", select "Web Address (URL) - Then paste the link you         copied earlier



 

           There you are - The image is linked from the image hosting service. Click OK and watch the image drop itself into your post.



 


          You can preview it in your post


 


          And there it is. There are no unreasonable size limits and you can upload as many pics as you like. All FREE

Nice tutorial Joe.  One major drawback with linking pictures like this is that the post no longer makes sense once the pics are deleted from the external site and the post is just left with broken links.  Can be very frustrating when searching old posts.

Hey Don. That's actually why I use this host. They have an option so post the image with no expiration. So in theory as long as they're in business...the images should stay there.... In theory.... Hopefully better than nothing anyhow....

 

I must say that this photo is most interesting and I believe that the tree must be huge in order to produce such leaves. I don't recall seing any of my trees in pot producing such large leaves.
Joe, perhaps you could start a new thread titled "figs with the largest leaves" or something like that and see what others might have to say.

LOL! OK! Seriously - As part of my work I subscribe to a stock image service and I just used that image. I have no idea where that particular image came from...I wish I did. Personally, I'm all about eating figs... I could handle a no-leaf tree that produced lots of tasty figs

The variety "zidi" is a very large leafed variety.

All thanks to Steve. I'd never heard of Zidi before. Good looking figs too. If your area supports the wasp you may get some nice fruit too.

Someone should probably start a separate post on leaves. It might confuse some who came for the image turorial.
