Hie all i found a nursery in Melboure that sells uncommon fig varieties called Bulleen Arts And Garden. They have the following rare varieties in stock now.

  • Black Adriatic
  • Deanna
  • Clancy's Blue
  • Dwarf Brown
  • White Genoa

I would say they are different. This guy has a Clancy and he shows us a picture. It looks quite different to a blue Provence.

Hey thanks for sharing this place, its really great for fig growers in Melbourne picked up a pretty good sized White Adriatic and placed an order for a Blue Provence the next time they get them in stock.

No worries. Did they have the black ischia there by chance?

Nah the only varieties they had were Brown Turkey, Yellow Excel, Black Adams, White Genoa, White Adriatic, a Black Adriatic (which i had never seen and i was quite intrigued), Archipel fig and a whole lot of Dwarf Browns. The man at the register told me they can get a lot of different varieties just if the customer asks, i thought that was pretty cool.

I had a look at the Dwarf browns the tag lists them as Brown turkey on the other side? which i thought was weird because the dwarf brown is a different type to the brown turkey. I got my tiny dwarf brown from Daleys in November 2016 and it has since developed 3 fruit on it. The ones at Bulleen might have been a typo.

I thought the prices on the black adams and black adriatic were fairly steep @ $54. but i would still pay that price for the black ischia or a panache! haha

Hahaha i totally agree, wouldn't mind paying that for a panache either, i thought it was weird the black adriactic had no price on it when i went and it was also the last one.

i would say that
black adams
black adriatic
clancy blue ,   are all made up names

there is an adams variety which is a syn. for daphne (spelling?)
which is a san pedro and needs the wasp for the main crop

b/adriatic i have never heard of.

i have trees named clancy and somebody has probably added blue,
still a very nice fig though.

yellow excell is usually just excell

if you get a flanders, very likely not to be the real one.

have many trees from differant sources bought as blue provence
but cant definately say any of them are the real thing yet.

i can supply small quantities of black ischia  if anyone wants.

 peter.

Thanks aaa

I was wondering if you have pictures of the "clancy" fruit? Also how much are you willing to sell your black ischia's for?

On the Bulleen Arts And Garden web site there is no mention of those mentioned above on their fig list.
