Purple Passion Fig

Good day, here's a fig that my friend Jon in Almost Eden sent me last year.  It's called Purple Passion.  My tree is tiny but it produces some mega size figs at an eary age.  I'm curious how the tree will look in 5 years b/c my small tree would hang on the ground with the 4 figs on it today if I let it.  This fig was big and juicy.  It was semi-sweet but I know in time the figs will get better.  I picked it too early.  It needed a few more days to ripen.  But it was good.

Good looking fig.  This one is already on my wish list.  I hope I can get one or at least some cuttings this winter or next season.  Thanks for sharing.

Dennis, It reminded me of Brown Turkey in every aspect. What did you think about it?

Boy an I late answering this post! Bass, I don't think it's Brown Turkey. However, this year, I will grow it right next to Black Jack and Improved Brown Turkey. Why?

B/C my Brown Turkey fig trees.....the fruit looks nothing like my PP figs.

Bump

So, now I am curious.... how has the tree grown in the ensuing years? Does it still produce large fruit or otherwise? Other notable characteristics? Do you recommend it?

Thanks,
Tony

Tony, I use to have 4 plus trees.  Now I think I have 2.  I gave several away years ago.  I gave one to Jon, our administrator.  This fig has a story which is why I am attracted to it.  It is a good tasting fig.  But, I've been doing a lot of traveling this year and haven't babied them like I wanted.  I almost killed mine.  I came home a few days ago and a rat had gotten inside the GH and some micro drippers were moved making some tree loose water.  I pulled out my tree and repotted it yesterday to a 10 gallon pot.  I will produce this year.  Its a really dark round fig.

The water restriction should help the fruit taste better.  :)
