This morning, I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick-up some fruit to snack on in the office.  I went very early and not many people were there.  I stopped by the nursery department to see if they had any Sweet Charlie strawberry plant and they did not.  But they did have some fig trees.  I saw several varieties, Celeste, Galicia Negra, Brown Turkey, Black Jack, Magnolia, and Ponte Teresa.  All were $9.97.  The trees were in half gallon containers.  No one was around to ask questions.  I was wondering if other Wal-Marts had these trees.  So, I called my nephew in Houston Texas and my son in Nashville Tennessee and asked them to swing by their local Wal-Mart and see if they had the same trees.  Both texted me back stating they had the same fig trees but Houston also had some Texas Blue Giants too.

 

I got one of each!  Y’all better hurry to your local Wal-mart for these figs before their gone!  Good luck!!

Dang, Dennis, you have all the luck.  All my local WalMart carries is varieties from some stupid French nursery.  Pons something or other.

Last year you found the CDDNoir and now the Galicia Negra, i guess you get the good stuff around you ;) ;) ;)

I think Home Depot is now stocking dall osso as well, get them while they last!

Are you sure Noel it's an April Fools? That explains the long line in the garden center this morning. Seems they are introducing all these rare tree specimens this month. Get them while they last!

I'll be having my Galicia Negra, & Ponte Teresa coming in some near/distant future.
I presume that the quantity is (very) limited (& @ a very reasonably price too!).
Hint: Ask greenfin for more details ....

Ah!  April 1st!  Glad I only made a call to the local WM.  I asked if they had any fig trees and they basically went, "What?"  Just in case a WM in your southern areas do carry figs. here in Lebanon, PA., they don't.

I just called my local Walmart,here in Strongsville,Oh.The only fig trees left are Martinenca Rimada and Galicia Yellow...:))

WOW!  I will be in Nashville in a couple days.  Dennis could you post a picture of the fig trees you purchased from Wal-Mart so we can see how they look?

I asked about the other varieties and they have no idea what will be coming or when.

All that they had at the Franklin Walmart (near Nashville) was Brown Turkey #5!!

I will check some other local stores.


OK -- just read the rest of the message -- at least I didn't go just for the figs -- they didn't have the pink geraniums that I wanted either!  :)

I have a 3.50 clearance fig in ground, and I still don't have a clue about it, other than it's not a BT or a "Celestial"

Likely an agristarts...but who knows???

As for chain yankers...fo' shame.
