I got this from Jon 4 years ago, so far not productive but the figs are rich and delicious with moderate seed crunch. I noticed more deformed figs on this variety than any others of mine. Also, it makes two different leaf patterns, single lobe and 5 lobes.

Looking good. My second year RL had a number of ripening figs last week. Over half of them were deformed. I was really looking forward to trying this fig after two year. But the rains of Harvey spoiled every fig :(

Does it get its name from the colour surround of the fig eye while still in its green stage or does it relate to the taste.

Mine are half deformed also.
