Removing a Black Madeira Air Layer

very nice roots

Decent roots, but you leave me curious -- why did you wait a year?  My air layers in May-June take about 7-10 weeks; in July-August about 5 weeks.  I air layered a BM this July in 5 weeks.

It just wasn't a priority.  I had started a lot of cuttings this year and the air layer wasn't going anywhere.

Hi,
As long as the new tree has good roots, waiting one year or three months, for me it is the same. Only the result is important.
I myself too had to leave an airlayer for a year. I was not in a hurry. The only drawback is that now my airlayer is 5' /1.5m tall .
That's a bit too tall. I like my trees to be shorter. Of course, I read, that you don't have such problems ( 5' of growth in one year) with Black Madeira  .

Nice work Tom,whoever receives that plant is a lucky person!
Looks flawless and ready for a #5.
