can you please assist to tell me what this issue is. i just put it in the ground after 2 years in a pot.. can this be too much sun on new leaf shoots? too much water? something eating it? too much fertilizer? thanks for your help to all.
sorry, its late, should check posting before posting, Leaf Issue... sorry about that
Hello Charlie - how big is the fig tree? Does it have a good root mass? To me - it seems like fertilizer burn. I have a Panache (Tiger) fig started from a UC Davis cutting this year and it has the similar leaf burn. I used Jack's Tomato Feed fert diluted in 32 ox spray bottle and used as a foliar spray. I noticed one of the leaves has shrink-ed a bit and died off at the tip.
thanks the tree is around 2.5 ft tall or so.. it had a good root mass when i put it in the ground a month or so ago.. ive been doing Miracle-Gro and also top dressing with some worm castings.. right now i am backing off and just plain water for now.
Drop the Miracle-Gro, for sure. The worm castings can stay/ continue. They are are a gentle/slow release fertilizer that to get that kind of leaf burn with, you'd actually have to dry them out and use a match to ignite them.
fig is very useful for people,, especially for heart.. _)) in Armenia they are much ..)0
Too much Nitrogen.
Just plain sunburn, on a hot sunny day they need plenty of water . You can cut back on water on cooler or overcast days
Sometimes that just happens. I have an LSU Purple, plenty of water and it happened to a couple leaves. And I have an Atreano that is enormous and on a few of its leaves this same thing happened. It was a super hot day and humid as well. Not a big deal. The fig keeps growing.
