rooting cuttings: leaves and sun, or not ?

I have rooted lots of cuttings of fig and mulberry.
i have also talked to a lot of people that also have.

I have heard 2 schools of thought when it comes to leaving the leaves on
and 2 schools of thought when it comes to the amount of light to give them.

leaves expel/evaporate water, something you want to conserve in a cutting, but, they also convert sunlight into energy, which speeds up the rooting process.

I am curious as to how many leaves you leave on your cuttings, and also, how much light you give them ?

and...
do you treat other cuttings the same as Fig ? ... mulberry ? ...

I keep my cuttings in the dark until leaves bud out. Then they get hit with full sun. This usually slows growth, but the leaves never wilt. Granted I only have 13 cuttings to my name.

I do what works for me.  I have no way to keep fig cuttings warm enough to root and give them sun.  Your situation is very different.  Also, I mostly root dormant cuttings but you have cuttings with leaves so I'm wondering if they're green.  Green cuttings root differently than lignified fresh cuttings.  Assuming you have green cuttings this is one way that's worked for a lot of people.  Start at 2:35.  If you're talking about dormant cuttings then let me know.
