i have a pretty thick cutting that put out roots like crazy. It was in the moss for two weeks then a clear cup in a humidity bin and within 2 weeks I had to up pot I again. Now it's still in the humidity chamber in a 1 gallon pot and I've noticed a few roots comin out of the top of the soil. I feel like I had watered it sufficiently, I mean I feel like the roots are chasing humidity. Any input would be appreciated
If the cutting is growing in a very humid environment then it is not uncommon for roots to form above the soil line. I would suggest slowly transition to ambient humidity. After you do this the roots should stay in the soil.
Good advice from Steve. If you prefer to leave it as-is, it will still be alright. The roots will die off outside of the soil, but there should be enough roots beneath the soil to prevent any ill effects.
Lukie, as soon as roots show I start dropping humidity in the cup.If you have a rooted cutting with no leaves it can be up putted without a dome at all.I only use extra humidity to form roots, when roots show humidity domegoes away.Doug
Yeah, there's no greenery yet and I considered removing it from the humidity. It's just about ten degrees warmer in the humidity bin and I figured that would help to get the buds to break. Thanks for the info
it would be worth weening it slowly back off the humidity.
Best to get them to grow leaves out of humidity ben. Other wise you will loose leaves on you cutting or cuttings eventually
