This is the first year of Saint Anthony from EL fruiting.  I planted it last spring 2009.  The wife and I like the taste and it bears fruit before our other trees so it extends the season.  It is a little mild but good and sweet and kind of has a honeydew flavor.  Definitely different than the dark skin varieties we have.

Hey Tim, could you possibly post a picture of the leaf? The fig matches an unknown yellow I have been trying to identify. Thanks in advance. 

Glad to see what I'm expecting out of the St. Anthony fig. I got one a year or two ago from Jon and it is among one of my healthy fig trees. No FMV issues and dark and healthy leaves. Will have to wait till next year for figs I guess.

It had one or two figs last year but my pet squirrel got to it/them first.

Encanto Farms pic's of St. Anthony is a dark color fig. I sure hope there was no mislabeling.

I always thought they were yellow or gold figs. Never sure.
Encanto farms says they are yellow. How or where the dark figs came into play I don't know and not about to act like an expert when I'm not.

Rafed,  St Anthony fig have frequently come across my thoughts. Jon have mentioned he likes it. I don't know why and I checked Encanto's pic's again and sure enough
they look dark.

I have a St. Anthony and its growing very strong but no figs yet. I used to think I got a St Anthony going by EL's statement until I got one from the fig king. I have also received
a mail citing St Anthony as "dark" and very delicious. I am not concern as to the color as long as it is great. Besides, there are so many figs with wrong names. I was once given a Brunswick but its characteristics in leaf & fruit suggest its not as it looks exactly like my 2 Capelas.

Thank you Tim, I don't think it is the same as mine after seeing the leaf. Mine has no pointed leaves like yours. It remains a mystery.

Rafed & Paully, I noticed the figs on the varietal page being dark too. I'm confused but,  nothing new for me,lol

The pixes Jon in SD is showing is of caprified fruits.
Once caprified,it is allwayes darker,color than un....
The fig above is St Anthony,uncaprified fruits!

Herman, you are a wealth of information, my friend. I have often wondered why there are sometimes light and dark figs shown on the same varietal page. Now, I know. I keep forgetting that Jon has the fig wasp. Thank you.

EL now describes this as White Marseilles.  Condit's description of Blanche, aka White Marseilles and other names, seems to accurately describe the fruit, growth habit and leaf shape in his photo.  By the way, Herman, Condit said for this fig, "Caprification has little effect upon size and color, either of skin or pulp."  I have no opinion either way about that.
 
I still like this fig because of it's good sweet flavor and earliness.  Not as rich as Negronne but I never regret having it.

I have W Marseilles, Monticello Marseilles and Lemon that should all produce this year and it will be the first year to try all three together and compare. I love the Monticello Marseilles which very well may be the same tree as your Marseilles. These add a great early dimension and I like the clean flavor. It will be interesting to see if these 3 trees are actually the same or if there are subtle differences.

Sorry:I revisited,Jon Verdic varietal Page,for St Anthony,and ,indeed,he has a dark fig as St Anthony.
The St Anthony needs to be yellow outside at all times,and only the inside changes with caprification,and become darker,while the outside remain the same in this case Yellow.
The fig Jon have seem to be a missnomer,in my opinion,so Tim was right to point toward I Condit,description,when referring to outside color of the ripe fruits.
And there is a clue that tells me ,Jon St Anthony is a missnomer,and that is:
The eye is too large and open to be Saint Anthony.
Even if the change in color is from climate,the eye should stay closed,any way,so,that is why I say,that fig is not St Anthony.

I have Montellicello Marseilles, Marseilles White, and St Anthony and Lemon. My Lemon figs doesn't look the same as the others. MM does favor MW. My SA does have a different leaf pattern and I look forward to compare all figs this year.
