Anyone ever buy trees from Sallee Fig Trees I just found this on craigslist? http://cnj.craigslist.org/grd/5067006522.html
Never heard of them or seen trees planted in stone like that. Must be top heavy and they are weighing them down. Did you get a list of what they have?
No I am going to write to him right now he's not too far from me Here's the number if anyone is interested 347.768.3632
I would be curious to see what he has......
I just got the reply and he asked me to call him tomorrow and he would tell me what varieties he has, he also told me he has 100's of rare exotic varieties I'm going to be on the phone for a while LOL
I'm surprised some one like that isn't a member of the forum or at least sell on ebay. He would get more business that way.
I was wondering if he was a member here also , he has a FB page and website that is under construction?
Just sent him an email. He's about 30 min from me. We'll see what happens.
Did you ever get a chance to go?
Thanks... If it turns out well I'll make a trip there also.
Could anyone find a cultivar list for them? Seems odd to say you have 100's of figs for sale and not have a list.
Getting a list is certainly one of my goals. I'll report back w pics and hopefully an accurate list.
Thanks Aaron, that would be super!

There is almost no info on either facebook or webpage. Would expect a little more details of business, varieties available.
looks like they're just getting started. will give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, after all Bill's Figs has no real website, and a not very active facebook, but he has a heck of a business and great product to offer.
I just received emails from Sallee's saying he'd been out of the country for a few months, the figs are going into winter storage and to contact him in spring to see what he has available. I emailed him more than once and he replied to each with the same exact phrase. There was nothing about which varieties or anything even though I was clear I was looking for a specific variety. Not holding my breath.
I'd forget sallee's I passed her name around to a few people and they've emailed them like you did asking specific questions and no one ever got a straight answer from them
He's 20 min from me. For 3 months I tried to get a price list and availability. I finally got an availability but just names of figs. At least a start right? I then chose 20 varieties and wanted a price on those. I went back and forth about 4 more times before getting very frustrated and finally told the guy to forget it. He was more interested in getting my varieties than making a sale. I could not say for sure if his varieties were true to name, but I would doubt it. Why else would you drag your feet when your business is selling fig trees? He claimed to have 7000 fig trees. What varieties are anyone's guess.
Anything on advertising for sale that is not more clear than that I would forget it.When you sell something you have the obligation to describe what your selling with the more details possible including the price.Just a tought
We could put him on the S%#$* list
Hi,Some sellers avoid to sell to other sellers... Call it a business strategy. Not saying his behavior is exactly that... But could be.He'd probably rather sell to someone who has no further propagation intention ...Some sellers don't like to speak prices. You want , so you pay what is asked at the moment you want to buy ... Sometimes it works ...Some tax-controllers play the dummy customer for choosing before running controls ...If you're really interested go there and pay what is asked and voilĂ ... Hopefully you won't have to sell a kidney ...
Jdsfrance. You sound like my mother. She only wants to see the best in people no matter how small the detail of how far away from the facts she has to stray. I clearly explained myself to the guy over and over again for 4 months. If your business model is not to sell your figs than he's doing a great job. I was a green goods buyer (landscaping material) for about 4 years. I bought trees and shrubs from growers all over the country. If I cannot get a price, how can I buy? I don't have time to go to every nursery from Tennessee to Georgia in person and ask. What other business makes you go down in person for the price. Even a car will have a sticker price. When you show up in person you'll get a better price, but at least there is a starting point. I got nothing.
