Scammed!!!!!

This was sold to me from a local guy in nj, he told me it was a smith fig, I have an actual Smith that I proved out this season, and it was awesome, this is not a smith, I was told that the guy I bought it from was a great guy, but very very unreliable or lazy about labels, so I got a real smith just in case, and I'm happy I did cause this looks nothing like my proven smith! Soooo, what is this one? It's a huge fig and it looks like it's going to be a yellow fig very round, I haven't picked one yet probably tomorrow so I don't know the flesh color, and it's a real $hitty producer this is its 3rd year and I finally got a total of 6 figs on it, other trees it's size will produce 100 or more, so it's a real loser as of now, I have to taste a fig to know for sure, but I tend to like darker figs, so we shall see!

Could you please post pics of the fig in question ,the inside. And the one you call the real one .There are 2-3
versions floating around.

Leaves look like smith. Sometimes trees act differently when growing. Can have two cuttings from same tree and the growing rate can differ.

I agree,leaves look right.

I don't know who you got the tree from. But if you purchased a tree (or cuttings) from someone who has a reputation for having poor labeling practices; and you didn't end up getting the correct variety, I'm not sure you can say you were "scammed". It's more like you knowingly gambled and it didn't pay off. But not that you got scammed. Just my opinion.

I've already had others from this person that didn't pan out, and the smith I do have the figs are half this size, all 6 on this tree are massive, I'll know by the weekend for sure!

I think it's odd you say you've been unhappy with previous purchases yet you continue to buy from the same person. By "pan out" do you refer to the variety being wrong or some other problem?

You may cut its figs and see inside, Hopefully, it may be still smith fig.

I understand your upset, I am on the same boat, I ordered Col De Dame Noir with premium price, It supposes to bear black fig, 1 year and 4 months has passed and water them everyday, it bears huge beautiful green figs. Although it is beautiful figs, problem is that it is unknown tree.

Sorry that happened. As for taste, some figs take 6 years to taste good, and some never produce well in pots.
