I will be transferring my rooted fig cuttings from 16 oz clear cups to 1 or 3 gallon containers.  They are currently in a mix of 50/50 Pro-mix BX and perlite and doing very well.  I currently have both the Pro-mix and coarse perlite.  I have read that a lot of people like to use pine bark fines in their mix, but I could not find pine bark fines in my area.  I was able to find composted pine bark that looks like a coarse soil mix.  The figs only have to stay in pots until next spring when I will be planting them in ground. I was thinking of using an 80/20 or 70/30 mix of BX and perlite.  Will that provide enough nutrients to the figs until I plant them next spring?  Should I add the composted pine bark and at what ratio?  Should I fertilize with Ozmocote once I up-pot?  I have had good success at rooting cutting to this point and want to minimize the chance of transplant shock by not changing up the mix too dramatically.  I am new at this and the advice on this forum has helped me get this far and is greatly appreciated.

You could use what your currently using just use less perlite. Leave them in cups. Slice the side of cup by cut the top thick ring with dikes. ( wire cutter ) cut along the ring close together then pull a few of the down exposing the roots a little. Then plant the entire cup. No transplant shock.

Pro mix BX plus Perlite is basically Pro Mix HP. I use HP plus Pine Bark Fines (the stuff you have) 50/50. This mix has no fertilizer so you will want to add your ozmocote.

I mixed ProMix HPCC, which is Promix HP with a little less peat and added coir chunks, with micro bark. Micro bark is sold in many stores that sell EB Stone soils. It is fir bark and very even. I mixed in around 55% pine bark and 45% HPCC. I did a harsh root prune and repot a few weeks ago and luckily have no transplant shock symptoms. The mix stays damp, but never wet, not even 5 minutes after watering. Don't fertilize for around 2 weeks post transplant. You want the roots to regrow before adding any nutrients. 

Where you are you might be able to find Fafard 52 or Fafard Nursery Mix. Both are great soilless growing mediums with plenty of bark. Or else get GreenAll Microbark. All these need some nutrients, Osmocote is a great option. If you prefer to do your own version of slow release try DynaGro Foliage Pro. You have to mix a tiny amount of FP in each time you water the plants. 

I up pot from top / soil perlite at 30-70% into farad #52 and have been doing so for years.
I have no intention of altering this as it works very well for me.
