Sources for Methyl Eugenol for fruit fly traps

Does anyone know of a U.S. source for "Fruit Fly Lure Plugs" that use Methyl Eugenol as the pheromone attractant in traps for orchard use?

This is for the Oriental, Mediterranean, Malaysian and other tropical fruit flies that parasitize papaya and other tropical fruits.

Appreciate and info that is available.

Best, Will

Why not use apple cider vinegar?

Hi Dig

You are thinking fruit flies in your house.........these are different species (oriental etc) and are attracted to protein based attractants and the methyl eugenol acts like a pheromone enhancement to the protein base.

I'm glad I asked. I was unaware of those insects here.

Thanks, I already looked there and could only find the liquid.

I am looking for the methyl eugenol "Impregnated" plastic "Plugs" much easier and safer to handle and they last up to 4 months unlike the liquid which only lasts about a week.

Watch this Fruit fly control video from Hawaii where they have had excellent results using the "Plugs" mentioned above but I have been unable to find a source to buy any.

BTW, these fruit flies will also attack figs/all varieties.

Thanks for your patience

Very informative. I assume you are in south Texas, southern California, or Florida.

You could always try to call or email the farms in Hawaii that use this product. Just a thought.

Hmmm I wonder if any of these would work for SWD?
