SouthEastern Fig Gathering

Okay guys we are getting to the final stretch...I thought to make a brisket but was realizing I could do a BBQ pork and make a fig sauce.. any thoughts?

Whatever you're cooking, I'm eating, and glad to have it.

Glad to eat whatever is there.  Will bring a vegetarian dish as I believe we have a couple of vegetarians in the group.

Here is a list of figs and things I will bring to the gathering.

You too huh! except for me it was my Daddys old millwaukee! The thrills of growing up.

I'm fine with all that, just remember to bring at least one fig or something fig related for the white fig game. I will set aside an area for the fig game and one for people wanting to trade and sell.
I have one house guest for this event, if someone else needs to stay over and doesn't mind a fold out bed let me know.

Image may contain: dog and outdoorFor those of you coming just a heads up I have a very large dog, and he will bark when people ring my bell. He is really sweet and as soon as he sniffs you will stop barking, he's just doing his job. If you are allergic or just can't deal with a really big dog let me know and you can just go to the back of the house without walking thru. He is an indoor puppy.

Gloria,
I'll be bringing some watermelons both red and yellow, and would rather bypass the
dog, so I'll be coming around the back.

No worries, just walk straight down the drive, it leads to a sidewalk that will take you around back

Final instruction will be posted tomorrow.

Man I hate to be so close and unable to attend! I'm sure y'all will have a great time.

Final instructions and information.
I am making Fig BBQ Pork butts, I will also have water and sweet and unsweet tea to drink, if you like other drinks please feel free to bring them. Also feel free to bring side or dessert that would feel would go with the event.
I have one person bringing a Vegetarian option.
As long as the weather holds this will be a backyard type event, I have some lawn chairs but if you have one you like bring it.
We will try to get as many cars as possible in the driveway, please only part on one side of the street, it isn't really wide enough for cars on both sides.
I have a good relationship with my neighbors and want to keep it that way.
Remember to bring something for the fig game (basically like a white elephant game)
I will also set aside an area for those that want to sell and trade.
The event time is from 11:30-2:30, I changed to time to try and give those traveling a long way to get here. If you are coming in the night before and want to come early to help out feel free. (you get better parking that way)

My address again is 154 Lake Pointe Dr Fort Mill, SC 29708
Cell 803-389-0230

right now the head count is at 20+

What is this fig game of which you speak?  :-)
I just found out what a white elephant game is, so are we supposed to bring something fig-related and wrapped?  Not sure how it's supposed to work, but I'd like to play along ;-)

No need to wrap it but just know that your first pick can be taken from you, there is a set limit on how many time something can be taken.. usually two. Each person draws a number from a hat to see who gets to pick in what order. First gets the last option.

Looks like in a semi last minute decision im going to get a chance to come out and meet everyone.  Im 3.5 hours away in Coastal NC (Wilmington).  Will be nice to get a chance to meet some more of the semi locals in the area :)

Im going to bring some of my doubles and a few of my local Unks if anyone ins interested in trading for any.  Im sure I will have more but this is some of the one gallons I will toss in the car for the trip.

Green Ischia
LSU Purple
Haikel Brunswick
Olympian
Kure Beach Unk
TI Black Unk

I am going to see if I can grab some TI Black figs to bring for people to sample, I just need to see if there are any that havent been split from the rains we just had.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Thanks for welcoming the newb (me). Great food, great conversation, and great figs! Nice meeting you all.

Gloria, I want to thank you for hosting the festival and all the hard work you put into making it
such a great success. You're the best. I didn't know there were so many friendly, knowledgeable,
and very generous fig people that live within 1-2 hours of each other. I came home a very happy
camper. Food was great too!!
